5. Picking up the Pieces
Mo Oliver, a Disaster Victim Identification expert, identifies victims of major disasters.
Stumbling across a dead body is the stuff of nightmares. For Mo Oliver, it’s all in a day’s work.
That’s because Mo identifies human remains for a living. His job as a Disaster Victim Identification expert has taken him to some very dark places; from investigating mass graves in Bosnia, recovering victims of the Boxing Day Tsunami to the repatriation of possessions from Grenfell Tower in London. We talk about this challenging aspect of forensic science and how it feels to reunite the lost with the living.
